Natural Resources and Ecology Interns (part-time)
This position is a unique opportunity to work with a leading-edge, growing, environmental and educational nonprofit, Life Frames, Inc., dedicated to integrating community resources, working with local stakeholders, and creating a global network of transformative ecological and multicultural learning landscapes linked electronically, called A Living Library.

Job Description:
This person(s) will assist the Project Director and Natural Resources Training Coordinator to design and implement a community outreach and communications strategy for the environmental transformation of a public school in San Francisco which will become a green, Community Learning Environment based on the ecological, built, and multicultural resources of the area. This person will help implement a Natural Resources Training Program for adults and children, using the school and its transformation as a series of interdisciplinary project-based learning opportunities. This person will help to translate the hands-on learning program in either Cantonese, Spanish, or Tagalog to the participating immigrant adults. The individual will also help plan and implement Community Dialogues in Comprehensive Sustainable Development for the local area, city, and region.
Essential Qualifications:
- Knowledge of local, native riparian and uplands ecosystems including watershed
- Training and experience with ecological and sustainable development and organic gardening practices
- Able to be assistant educator for local multicultural adults and young students
- Help develop community skills, interests, resources, problems, inventory of neighbors
- Help design and implement training and job placement program for low-income community members
- Help conduct local, ecological, socio-cultural, site assessments with prospective participants
- Assist in exploration, design and implementation of collaborative partnerships with public agencies and other resources for Natural Resources Training and Job placement
- Good communication and teaching skills a must
- Resourceful and great networker a plus
- Multi-lingual a plus (Cantonese, Tagalog, Spanish) - able to act as translator for training
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with web technology and arts
- Undergraduate okay, graduate student preferred
- Some teaching experience in natural resources management and related areas
- Must be creative, hard working, and a self-starter, able also to follow directions
