In Spring this year, during one of A Living Library classes with students from Junipero Serra Elementary School, we asked our young Eco-Stewards to write down their favorite activities in A Living Library garden. Develop Your Green Skills With A Living Library’s A.L.L. Green Futures Paid Summer Internship Program 2018

Summers are fun! Make that fun count through learning by doing and contributing to the environment while getting paid!

A Living Library invites applications from Middle and High School students for the A.L.L. Green Futures Paid Summer Internship Program. This unique program held at the OMI / Excelsior Living Library & Think Park, on Oneida Avenue (between San Miguel Early Education School and James Denman Middle School), and the Bernal Heights Living Library & Think Park Nature Walk based at St. Mary’s Recreation Center, mentors Middle and High School students to become A.L.L. Eco-Stewards and helps them gain real-world experience in green job skills, gardening, ecology, nutrition, cooking, creative arts, and sustainable business through integrated hands-on learning program.

At Open Engagement (OE) 2018 - an annual, itinerant, artist-led conference in its tenth year, Bonnie Ora Sherk was invited as one of the five panelists at the session  “The Power of Time : Social Practice Eco Artists of a Certain Age”, on May 13, 2018 at Queens Museum, New York. The 90-minute panel was led by Linda Weintraub, curator, artist and author of several popular books about contemporary art. Bonnie Ora Sherk’s Public Talk on A Living Library at Kulturfolger, Zurich

Public Talk on A Living Library  

After a very successful opening of A Living Library Is Cultivating The Human & Ecological Garden at Parco Arte Vivente in Turin, Italy, as part of the International Exhibition, The God-Trick, the next stop was Zurich, Switzerland. Bonnie Ora Sherk was invited to give a Public Talk to introduce the concept of A Living Library to an audience of diverse residents, including artists, architects, landscape architects, educators, and representatives from public agencies.  During her presentation on May 07 at Kulturfolger, a non-profit art space in Zurich, she shared her vision to create International Branch Living Libraries & Think Parks , globally, and she spoke of the idea of developing a unique Zurich Branch Living Library & Think Park over time to involve diverse sectors of the community in the process. People were enthused and want her to come back !
