A Living Library Interns & Volunteers
(for experience, credit, making a difference, and possible stipend)
This position(s) is a unique opportunity to work with a leading-edge, growing, environment, education and multi-arts nonprofit, Life Frames, Inc., dedicated to integrating community resources, working with local stakeholders, and transforming the environment. We are also developing a local and global network of place-based, transformative, ecological and multicultural learning landscapes to be linked electronically, each called A Living Library & Think Park.

Job Description:
This person(s) will assist the Project Director or A.L.L. teachers to design and implement community outreach, teach gardening and ecology to local children and adults, perform gardening and landscaping, and help develop communications strategies for the environmental transformation of several Branch Living Library & Think Parks in San Francisco and New York. Each Branch will become a Green Center for Community incorporating the ecological, built, and multicultural resources of the area - past, present, and future. The intern or volunteer will support ongoing programs and help create new ones. The intern or volunteer will also help to translate the hands-on learning programs in either Cantonese, Spanish, or Tagalog.
Desirable Qualifications (some or all):

Knowledge of local, native riparian and uplands ecosystems, watersheds and species
-
Training and experience with ecological and sustainable development and organic gardening practices
- Knowledge of urban green planning and design
-
Knowledge of tree planting and staking
-
Experience with carpentry and/or stonework
-
Experience with landscape drafting and drawing
Experience with marketing and writing press releases
-
Knowledge and experience with media, technology and web support
-
Experience with fundraising
-
Resourceful and great networker
- Experience with community outreach

Ability to develop and support collaborative partnerships with public agencies, community organizations, and other resources

Good communication and teaching skills
-
Some teaching experience in organic gardening, natural resources management, multi-arts, and related areas
- Good organizational skills
-
Must be creative, hard working, and a self-starter, able also to follow directions
-
Multi-lingual a plus (Cantonese, Tagalog, Spanish) - able to act as translator for training and written communications
